Membership Overview

There are 3 levels of membership: Ordinary, Committee and Executive Committee. The membership structure is as follows:

Being a subscriber, you will be able to enjoy a suite of perks, such as our monthly newsletter (SIMES Insight), first-hand knowledge of events and seminars as well as networking activities. Join as an ordinary member by filling in this form!

The Events team contributes to making SIMES a conducive and fun environment to develop and bring out the potential of each individual by ensuring that all activities align with the mission and vision of the Society. The department’s responsibilities include planning, executing and maintaining the activities of the Society.
The committee member will be involved in:

  • Assisting in the executing and planning of activities for the club
  • Ensuring the smooth flow and execution of activities
  • Enhancing members’ engagement and participation in activities within the club
  • Ensuring logistics and catering aspects are carried out efficiently before and after the event
  • Setting, communicating and maintaining timelines and priorities to ensure the
    management of SIMES events are delivered efficiently
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned

Human Resource

The Human Resource team contributes to making SIMES a great place to learn by recruiting, grooming and retaining the best and brightest talent. The department’s responsibilities include recruitment, manpower planning, performance and talent management, members’ welfare and development as well as members’ communications. The committee member will be involved in:

  • Assisting in the resourcing and recruitment of ordinary and committee members
  • Processing of on-boarding of new joiners and off-boarding of members’ resignations
  • Assisting in enhancing members’ engagement programmes
  • Gathering and organising data and information for Society decision-making purposes
  • Assisting in managing the delivery and effectiveness of Society events
  • Acting as a liaison between the school staff and the Society for continuous feedback
  • Providing advice to current members and school population on HR related enquiries
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned


The marketing team comprises creative-driven and passionate individuals. The team is vital in executing strategic ways that aligns with the society’s mission and vision to develop the Society’s presence across the student population both internally and externally. The committee member will be involved in:

  • Managing and improving the Society’s social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Wix
  • Posting of regular updates about the Society as well as current activities in the industry on social media
  • Developing and executing marketing initiatives and activities
  • Establishing, monitoring and managing processes for review and tracking to ensure continued success of the marketing campaigns
  • Developing and producing marketing collateral by working with internal clients, writers, designers and external vendors
  • Sourcing advertisement opportunities
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned

Research & Editorial

The Research & Editorial (R&E) department aims to promote deeper awareness of economics through our written publications on economic-related current affairs and group discussions amongst the Society’s members. The department’s main responsibility is to ensure smooth publications of articles for monthly SIMES Insight and for the Annual Newsletter. The committee member will be involved in:

  • Write, edit and design articles for SIMES Insight and Annual Newsletter
  • Prepare exhibition panels for the Annual Economic Summit
  • Liaise with other departments to organize case-studies and debates for monthly group meetings
  • Promote student-led economic research at SIM Global Education
  • Coordinate SIMES Writers’ Teams
  • Assist in ad hoc duties as assigned

Corporate Development

Our corporate development team essentially takes part in planning and executing strategies to improve and reshape the management team as well as the society as a whole. Our team is exciting, dynamic and high-spirited in pursuing our corporate goals. The team is also primarily responsible in sourcing out partners and sponsors for the society, and we represent the highest caliber of professionalism and commitment in our attributes.

  • Identifying and sourcing of speakers, partners and sponsors via phone or email to establish rapport and arrange meetings if necessary;
  • Pitching the team’s services, contributions and mutual benefits
  • Working closely with other teams in the club to discuss and innovate new ideas to develop the club;
  • Communicating consistently with both partners and the school’s administration;
  • Maintaining a fruitful relationship with existing partners;
  • Crafting and organizing new initiative strategies with marketing team
